Day 4 - France cycling trip : Maroeuil

Today has been pampering /rest day. To follow up on yesterday's "how am I gonna pay for this" scenario: this afternoon, the owner of the property drove me to the ATM in the next village. That's service!

This morning, I was served breakfast in my room. Yesterday evening, I had told the owner that I usually have cereal with orange juice, and maybe a croissant. The breakfast I received this morning had cereal, milk, orange juice, a croissant, two slices of bread, jam, dried apricots, nuts, raspberries, blueberries, a kiwi, and a banana.

Today, other than breakfast and the excursion to the ATM, I have been mostly staying in bed. I've slept quite a bit. Some muscles are feeling better. I hope all my muscles will be ready for another 60km tomorrow! If all goes well, I'll head out to Amiens.

  1. Well, you need a breakfast like that, and more, every day.
I know you stuff yourself with high protein. That's is good.
Your muscles will be adjusting as time goes by.
    Hurray for my young lady.
    Love you

  2. That's a good breakfast but it wouldn't get me very far. When I'm on tour, breakfast is my most important meal of the day. I often order a big stack of pancakes, 3 or 4 eggs, a side of bacon, coffee, and maybe some juice. I can't tell you how many waitresses have said to me, "you'll never be able to eat all that!" I just laugh. It's great to eat like that all day long and still lose weight.

I'm not surprised to hear your money situation worked out. People show a lot of kindness to bikers. It's wise to be prepared for anything, but more often than not, when you need help, it's there.

    1. Wow, I'm not even sure that a breakfast like that exists in France! :) Sounds good though. Maybe I'll try that tomorrow morning if the hotel has it. :-)

  3. I agree with Don....riding 60+ km daily you need more than that! But that was good service. Be safe! :-)

    1. Didn't you bike almost that far to go to work once? :-) All this talk about food is making me hungry now! But I'm about to sleep. Maybe I'll dream about pankakes. With maple syrup.

    2. I try to bike to work once a week (36 km one way) when the weather is nice. Matter of fact, I'm doing that today :-)
